Fort Agnes is situated in the townland of Knockavota which is about a quarter of a mile from Miltown. It is surrounded by three earthen fences and is supposed to have been built by the Danes.
An underground passage leads from it to "Poll Gorm" in Abbeylands. Rumbling noises can be heard in the passage after a heavy fall of rain.
Fairies are said to be seen in the fort in the months of May and November.
At these times, cups and saucers are heard rattling every evening, and people, who disappear suddenly, are seen walking along between the walls.
