    There is a round fort in Farranmanagh, a town-land about a mile and a half from Miltown. Around it are two ditches. In the outer one is an opening which leads underground to another fort in the town-land of Farran. The two are in view of each other.
    It is said that the fort in the town-land of Farranmanagh was built by the Danes. No one has ever gone under ground or never found out what is under or what it was used for. The inside and outside of this fort were ploughed, and nothing happened to those who interfered as a result.
