  1. A School of the Olden Times.
In the days of the Penal Laws there (waur) was a hedge school in our field. The school was made out of sods and had a timber roof. The master taught the pupils in this old shed. The Socholars did not use steel pens or pencils but thy (mads) made their pens out of quills. The man who taught in it was Michael Gallagher. The scholars watched on turns for the soldiers.
