The following are some peculiar names of fields on my father's farm.
Straight in front of our house there is a green garden enclosed by a fence called "Paddy Quinn's (Garg) Garden. It belonged to Paddy Quinn.
There is a pasture field in front of Devaney's house called "Sgraeth" which means the Swamp.
To the back of our house, close to Meenamora Wood there is a lovely green field on the hillside called "Gairdin Ban.
It is so called because long ago a girl who died with the famine was buried in this field and ever since wonder(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
