  1. The drums beat slowly in funeral time,
    As his corpse to Jamestown we carried;
    And his comrades discharged three farewell shots,
    O'er the grave where our Loved one lies buried.

    He was buried with honours, as a Soldier should be,
    Who fought for the freedom of others;
    May his Soul rest in Heaven,
    His body's with us, to sleep with his Father and Mother.

    With the old Abbey shadows around him;
