  1. Paddy Gilday lived in the townland of Derrinorn. He used to go to places where there was weddings and dance and sing. He was the best singer in the county at that time. The house he lived in was a small thatched cabin with a hole in the roof for a window and a door of plaited straw. He used to work the neighbours and that is how he used to earn his living. He is sixty three years dead and he was ninety six years old when he died. The ruins of the house is still to be seen. It was not a mudwall house but a stone house. Paddy was a great story teller. He could tell the story of The Apple of Discord and the poem Death and the Lady.
