    old saying is :
    Seagull, seagull sit upon and,
    Its ne'er good weather,
    When you came to the land.
    Another old saying is about the
    curlews when they came calling it is said they are calling for rain.
    It is said that when a cat begins to wash her face it is a sign of rain and when a dog begins (to wash her face) to eat grass that is a sign of rain. If the smoke of a chimney goes up straight it is a sign of rain, good weather.
