    the year in Rakestreet and only three in Crossmolina. The three Crossmolina fairs in those times were held on 23rd May, 12th September and the 17th December.
    Generally there used to be a good fair on the Twelfth Day in Rakestreet. On this day also all the girls that were prepared for marriage used to sit up on a huge rock which was situated in the middle of the fairgreen. This was to show to all it may concern that these girls were prepared to get married should a suitable opportunity occur.
    There is a big hill near where the fairgreen was situated and a man named Tony Kilbride, better known as "Tony Mor" lived there and that hill is called after him. The name of his wife was Winnie and she had a
