The three Crossmolina fairs in those times were held on 23rd May, 12th September and the 17th December.Generally there used to be a good fair on the Twelfth Day in Rakestreet. On this day also all the girls that were prepared for marriage used to sit up on a huge rock which was situated in the middle of the fairgreen. This was to show to all it may concern that these girls were prepared to get married should a suitable opportunity occur.There is a big hill near where the fairgreen was situated and a man named Tony Kilbride, better known as "Tony Mor" lived there and that hill is called after him.
