    When delirium brings gaunt shapes around me,
    And my temples throb wild in their pain
    Oh! Blackwater, a dream of your flowing
    Would bring rest to my spirit again

    In the hospital ward, the June sunlight grew sickly, and close in its glow,
    And the panting of dying ones mingle
    With ocean waves panting below
