  1. (continued from previous page)
The witch came out and scolded him and then went in again. When she went the horse came to a halt abruptly and no matter how hard the man urged it or beat it, it would not budge. The man went for assistance and in a short time; about twenty men were gathered on the spot. They tried everything. They pulled him, shoved him, beat him and shouted at him but he would not move. They moved to one side to discuss the matter and they decided to threaten the witch with punishment if she would not release the horse from her spell as they knew it was her doing. They were just going to carry out their resolve, when the horse, of its own accord, moved off. The men decided not to pursue the matter further and they went home.
