    And when, sir in years that one hoary,
    You steer for the glorified crown,
    The lamp may it light you to glory,
    And the wheel-may it not let you down.

    Meaning
    In this parish about thirty years ago a man was at a dance and left his bicycle on the roadside. While the dance was in progress the lamp, pump, and one of the wheels were stolen and the bicycle was found in a field nearby in a dismantled condition.
    The owner composed the above lines.
