  1. (continued from previous page)
Listening the storm in fevered dreams
    Her restless spirit lies
When lo; what sudden light is this,
    That opes her dreaming eys.
    8.
With thankful tears her burning cheeks
    And fevered eyes are damp,
Father has heard my darling's prayer
    And lit the signal lamp.
See how it gleams, look how it shines,
    Though raved the tempest wild,
I knew her father's soul was near,
And still would help his child,
Then lo; above her smiling, bent
    Her babe of summers seven,
Yes mother yes; though father sleeps,
    His spirit wakes in heaven.
    9.
For when I could not climb the stair
    The storm so fiercely raved,
Dear father drove the clouds abroad
And showed the signal stars of God
And so the train was saved.
