Wakes
Long ago they played many games at wakes such as Rather, Rather, Watch the candle and my ninth daughter.
Watch the candle
The young boys placed a lighted candle in the middle of the floor and the boys sat around it and kept watching it. A man stood up and went around with a belt and the first one who looked away from the candle got a slap of the belt.

Weddings
In olden times the people never got married in the morning, they always got married in the evening. They walked to the chapel. At night, the wedding was held and for the supper they had potatoes, turnips and bacon.
