  2. About one hundred years ago there was an old school situated in the farm of Dominick Doherty. It was an old thatched barn with holes in the walls for windows. The ruins of it now are overgrown with grass, moss, and nettles. It was about the size of an ordinary country house. It had an earthen floor and stones for seats. In Wintertime they had to walk on boards to cover the pools of water in the floor. The teacher who taught in it was Antony O'Grady, he lived in Ballaghaderreen. His salary was about thirty pounds
