  1. People lonh ago had very curuous remedies for some of their ailments.
There are still many people who have more faith in a "cure" than in a doctor's remedy. Certain people are looked upon as having healing(s) powers.
The seventh son or daughter is supposed to be able to cure worms. A child born after its father's death is said to have the power of healing thrush.
A woman who marries a man of the same name is also said to have healing powers.
The following cures are sometimes done round our district.
A person with warts will be cured if he gets a snail, rubs it to the wart, then hangs the snail on a bush. When the snail dies the wart will wither.
There is another cure for warts; get nine straws, rub them to the wart, wrap the straws in paper, then leave it on the road.
