The cup was made of an old oak tree
Fill it up an' give it to me
Altho' its' little and your family's great
Stand up landlady an' give us a taste
If yer money is anyway slack
Give us a cut of yer barn brack,
The road is long and my boots are thin
I have a little pocket to carry things in
The head of a herring, the king of the say,
Put your hand in your pocket + let us away
Up with the kettle, an' down with the pan
Give us a penny to bury the ram. - Christmas Customs
On Christmas Eve the people of the Fishery and Brook Gardens light a red candle in the window of their houses, and leave it burning all night.
Few of them too leave on a good fire, and don't lock or bolt their doors on this night.
