- There was a poor farmer who lived on the south shire (south part) of Arklow and he had a wife. He had a small mill but he wasn't doin' much work in it. He had wan daughter. The daughter was a terrible torment to him as she grew up for she did nothin but doin herself up and readin books. His wife was a poor miserable bottle woman who was always complainin (sick). This time she was in bed sick for months and when the farmer came home at night he was terrible tormented. The daughter put no 'pass' on him but went round the country galavantin and divertin herself. As soon as her father went to bed at night she dressed herself up and slipped out on the(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
