    John Magee and his father made creels. They made block wheels for cards out of pitch-pine. They made wooden ploughs. They had a saddle made of two boards, crossed with an iron. They made wooden pegs for harrows.

  2. The "Flue" last year.
    The "Flu" was in Clara last spring (1937) and nearly every-body had it.
    The factory was closed for a week and the schools were all closed for a fortnight.
    Mr Dowling died with the "flu" I don't know of anybody else that died with it around Clara. Everyone was very weak after it for a long time.
