  1. There are four tailors in Clara, Smith in the Green, Ned Quinn in Church Street and Nicholson in the Back-Road.
    None of these tailors travel about, but people go to them and get measured and pick the piece of cloth they would like for a suit.
    Mr. Nicholson and Quigley stock cloth but othe tailors order it for you when you want it.
    No shirts are made in the homes but the shirts that are bought are made out of shirting.
    Some people knit thier own stockings.
    The nearest place thread is spun is in Athlone. There is also a new yard factory being built in Tullamore.
    When a relative dies the people put a black band on the sleeve of their coat.
