When a seventh sone was born the old people used to put two worms before before he broke his fast and they believed that that is how he had the cure for ring-worm.
Written by Mary Scanlan, 13, Ballygarvey, Rathowen - Signs of rain :
Sheep eating grass early in the morning,
Dublin red up in the sky in the morning,
A circle round the moon,
A blue blaze in the fire,
Streamers from the sun,
A dog eating grass,
A cat tearing wood,
Stars falling,
Frogs croaking,
Frogs turning black in colour,
Sheet lightning at night,
Swallows flying low.
Signs of good weather: -
Sun sets red,
Swallows flying high,
Sheep lying in the morning,
Hills look far away.- Bailitheoir
