  1. In the year of the famine the people had nothing to eat but nettles and a lot of them died of hunger. They used to be found dead by the roadside and they would be buried in the nearest hole they could get.
    There is a hole up in the hills of Ballycullane, Doolin, and it is said that there was a lot of people buried in it.
    This hole is situated in Michael Fitzpatrick's land, about forty yards in from the public road.
