    A few meals of nettles were eaten in May to cleanse the blood and it was supposed to keep away fever during the year. The principal food of the present day is bread. The meat eaten years ago is the same as that eaten now.
    The table is generally in by the wall, and at mealtime it is pulled out and a long stool taken from under it and the whole family sat around it. In some houses there was a table hanging from the wall which could be hung up and let down. The breakfast was generally taken at half past eight and some people used to be working for three hours before that.

    Some years ago people had only two meals each day. These consisted of potatoes and milk and yellow meal porridge. They had no tea and vegetables such as the people have now and still old people say that the people were stronger in these days. They had breakfast at nine or ten in the day and the second meal at four or five.
