- Hunting was the chief sport of the Fianna of Erin chiefly that of the Deer which they followed on foot. During one of those hunts they followed a deer and Oisin being the swiftest he outdistanced the others and in a lonely glen he closed on the deer which to his great surprise turned into a lovely young girl.
He stopped running and she stopped also and spoke to him "You are very swift she said " there are none of the rest as swift as you". If you will come with me I will carry you to a place where you will never grow old and you will be the same as you are now until the end of time. Oisin being a splendid looking man and young at the time he agreed to go with her and when the others came up there was no trace of Oisin or the deer.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
