Ar an leathanach seo

  1. St.Stephen's Day comes after Christmas Day. It is spent by the people in many ways. The older people generally stay at home or visit some of their neighbours to have a talk about the times or the coming year. The younger folk go to a dance or the pictures. More go around with the wren dressed up with ribbons on a holly bush. They get money at nearly every house they visit which they divide among themselves that evening. This is a very ancient custom. The wren is hunted and killed on Christmas Day.
    Hardly anyone known the origin of this custom. I heard from an old man years ago. During one of the wars between this country and the English camp in the early morning they being all asleep and not thinking of danger. The drummer ate
