- People never wore boots long ago until they were fifteen years of age. A man named McCarthy who lived in Fermoy never wore boots. Children at present go barefoot all the Summer.
The water used for washing the feet is never kept in the house at night.
Boots were made locally in former times, but there were only a few shoemakers in the district. For generations the ancestors of these men had been shoemakers. Wooden soles were used in former times but they are not used now. Leather was tanned in Rathcormac in former times but the tan yards are now closed down.
The people used also wear leather covering on their feet. This covering used be tied with(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
