    The Penal Times
    During the penal times the people went to mass through the fields and as the priests would not be allowed to say mass in the churches they said it in the farmer's houses. There are mass paths in my district and they are plain to be seen still. The reason of these mass paths is because there were no roads and the people had to come through the fields.
    It is said that in the Penal Times in Killinane there was a place called "Pollan Aifrin" and they built walls there because priests said mass there. During the Penal Times also the people had nothing to eat in those days they would not get it from the English,.
