There are no hedge-schools now-a-days, because we have proper schools, in which all subjects are taught. Liscarroll school was build in the year 1882.
- It is around Shrove the people here around mostly all get married. It is said that it is unlucky to get married in the months of August, September, and October. It is also said unlucky to get married during Lent and Advent. Marriage can be carried on any other month or day of the year, and it is not said to be unlucky. Money is given out as fortunes, and the parents supply the children with cattle and many other things.
When the people are married a great wedding breakfast is held. Rich people have wedding cakes, and they send away pieces to their friends who were not present at the wedding by post, in a special box. On the wedding day there is a great(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile) - Bailitheoir
