In the course of time when an attempt was made to change the religion, it was also planned to remove the cross. But before this happened one morning when the people arose they noticed that one half of the cross had disappeared. It is not known what happened to it. In later years the portion of the cross that remained was only a stone, it was then pulled down and houses built on the spot.
The Holy Stone was immortalized in the following song composed by our late local poet Mr Phil O Neill. - The Old Holy StoneSure the strangers ne'er fail,

To admire every beautiful scene,
