  1. About half way between Timoleague and Courtmacsherry stand the ruins of Abbeymahon. It was founded by the Benartine[?] monks who were a very rich order. The Lord Barry gave them eighteen plowlands, which constituted the parish of Abbeymahon, but the estate was only given to them till it was completed, which never happened, for soon afterwards the dissolution of the monastery took place and the lands were seized by the Crown.
Lislevane, Currihevern, Lynagh, Grange, Gurranes, Ardgehane and Cregane all belonged to Abbeymahon. Abbeymahon is also known as the Abbey of Maur, it is now a graveyard and near by is Ahmonister (field of the monastery.) Native speakers call Currihevern Currach Ui Bhriain (O'Brien's Marsh.)
Some writers aver that the Abbey of Maur or De Fonte Vivo was in Carrigillihy near Union
