- There is a blessed well in Mr Fordes field in the village of Moore about two miles from the town of Castlerea.
This well was not always in Mr Fordes field, the history attached to it is, "Long ago a Protestant man sent his servant girl for water out of it. The water was used for washing the mans dog. The water turned to blood and immediately the well dried up and it left there and sprung up in a field adjoining his, where to-day it can be seen in Mr Fordes.
It is said that a woman brought her daughter (who was blind) to this well. The girl washed her eyes in the water and immediately her sight was restored. Ever since people with bad eyesight come to this well and pray there while rubbing the water of their eyes. They also take away bottles of the water. I got this information from my father.
