- In Tarmons there is only one forge which is very often without an owner.
Mikie Fennell worked there at one time. He died and the forge was then used by John Dennehy. In Dooncaha, a man named Brandon worked. He was a great spade maker.
In Tarbert there are two forges. The biggest has been in the Finucane family for three generations.
The other forge has passed from one family to another.
Tom Walshe, Paddy Kiely and John Riordan have worked in that forge at the western side of the village on the road to Ballylonford. On the Steeple Road, Maurice Griffin worked but there is no trace of his forge now.
