  1. Once upon a time there was a man who was employed working on roads. Every day while he was away a little fairy woman came and fed his hens. She was dressed in red clothes. People saw her and told the man when he returned home. He was very pleased and from that on he believed in fairies.
The fairies helped him in another way also. One morning when he went to the quarry where he was getting the stones there were some very large ones rolled out and broken. He saw written on one of them R.O.C. He paused for a while and thought what it could mean.
At last he found out what it could be "Roll out Charlie" for Charlie was the name of the man. Then he thought that if he rolled out the rocks the fairies would break them for him. He did so and ever afterwards his work was easy to do as the fairies broke the the rocks he rolled out.
