  1. Shops were not very common in the olden days.
    There was only one shop here and there in the district.
    The little shops around the chapels used to do a lot of trade on Sunday after Mass. Because people always wanted things, as they had to go a long way to a shop. This is also still done, but they never bought or sold animals on Sunday.
    The "slang" names of coins are still used about here. A pound is called A Quid, a shilling is known as a Bob, and a Tanner means sixpence.
    People often give "boot" when swopping things, and if one of the articles was not as good as the other, "boot" is given. If anybody bought an animal the owner would give a little "luck," "called
