  1. There was a master once upon a time in this place. There was no Irish spoken and writing was all done on slates. It was in a house. He taught first book second book and a sequel book. It was the hardest book that ever was learned. The master was not a stranger. He had no government pay only what the children gave him. The name of the master was Mr. Gilligan. He had one dead hand. There were others and they used to teach Catechism upon Sunday.
