  1. Its name is Carrigane and it is in the townland of Carrigane and it is in the parish of Carrigtwohill and Barony of Barrymore. There are nine families and there are thirtysix people. Cotter is the most common name in the district. Some of the houses are thatched and more of them are slated. There are three people over seventy years in it. Their names are Peter Hennessy, Nicholas Kelleher, and Mrs Katherine Cotter, all of Carrigane Carrigtwohill. There were more houses there long ago and there are two in ruins and there is no trace of the others. The most of the people went to America. Some
