  1. There are three forges in this parish. The names of the smiths are Mr Aherne Mr Barrett and Mr Murphy. Mr Aherne's forge is situated in Carrigane. Mr Barrett's is situated in Anngrove and Mr Murphy's is situated in Ballyanning. In them forges the people were smiths for many years each of the three forges are near cross road. There is a small stream near Mr Barrett's forge and there is a large one near Mr Murphy's forge. Mr Barretts forge has a slate roof. Mr Ahern's forge is covered with tyles and Mr Murphy's forge is covered with tar-paper. There are two fire places in two of the forges and
