Ar an leathanach seo

    drink out of earthenware mugs. Tea was a great luxury in olden times, as it was very scarce and dear. They used to have small wooden tables.
    The bread was made from rye and barley, and was baked on a griddle.
    Eggs were a great treat, and were only eaten on Easter Sunday. Pancakes were also a treat on Shrove Tuesday. People had a little meat on Christmas Day. The pancakes were made of flour, eggs and milk.
    It was all turf that was used in olden times, as there were no coal mines discovered at that time.
    Food was so scarce in olden times, that the following saying was often used:-
    "Christmas day and the day of the turf,
    Them are the days that we'll eat enough."
