  1. There is an old man working at my uncle's who was a great poet. His name is Joe Hellen. He is a native of Mount Gabriel, and is about 64 years. He made a large number of songs. He made one about Mount Gabriel, and about Adam and Eve, and about the Election between O'Leary and Gillhooly, and a good many others. They were all composed in English, but he had a good many Irish words between them such as "the Old Sean Bhean Bhocht" and others. He is a very clever man at making poetry, but he has no ear for singing.
