    Tuesdays, Saturdays and Thursdays are the days that are thought lucky for marriage, and the remaining days are thought to be unlucky.
    Marry in April when you can.
    Joy for a maiden and for a man.
    Marry in May and you'll surely rue the day.
    Married in white you've chosen all right,
    Married in blue your love will be true,
    Married in grey you'll go far away,
    Married in brown you'll live in the town,
    Married in yellow ashamed of the fellow,
    Married in pink your wishes will sink.

  2. A matchmaker named Timothy Hegarty known as Tadhg an Túirín lived in Mount Gabriel about forty or fifty years ago. He lived in a small little thatched house at the bottom of the hill between Glaun and Mount Gabriel. He used to go from house to house making matches, and he used to get five pounds from the people he used to make the match for, and if he would not he would recover it by law.
    Monday and Friday are the unlucky days for people to get married. An old saying as regards good luck is:-
