  1. Once upon a time a man coming from the fair of Mountmellick was met by a number of cats at the "Cot-Holes". He was forced to slap as they caught hold of the horse's reins. He was there for a considerable time when one of the cats stepped up to him and said "Will you tel Dilly Dolly the Poll Dalton is dead". Then he was allowed to go home. On his arrival there her found his wife remy anxious about his delaying but he told her the whole story.Their own cat was sitting by the fire washing its face and when it heard the words "Will you tell......is dead" it jumped up and out thr the open door and was never seen afterward.
