- Long ago we had not roads as we have now. There was a road leading from the Windy gap to Cratloe where nobody could travel except on foot.
It got a rough making in the bad times. At present motor cars can pass on this road. There was also a branch road leading from Gallow’s Hilll to Woodcock hill and on to Limerick.
It was impossible to travel on this road about thirty years ago.
Now the people from Gallow’s hill and Woodcock Hill can travel by this road. There wer men and woman working in Old Mr Delmege’s time making roads and making drains
The men had ten pence per day and the women had eight pence per day. They had to make passages in this land with rough Timber for horses to draq the stones to the drains(continues on next page)- Collector
