- About half way between Garranboy and Gurthmagee at the left hand side where the little stream known as Sruthán an Aifreann crosses the road there stood formerly a little thatched chapel. Here on a Sunday morning in the latter part of the eighteenth century as the priest was celebrating mass, news came that the soldiers were on their way from Killaloe. Knowing well their business the priest and the congregation took flight carrying with them the vestments and Sacred Vessels to the top of the hip in Ballykilldea. Here tradition says they erected a stone altar on which the priest finished the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. After that(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
