  1. In olden times people made soap and baskets. The soap was made from potatoes. The baskets were made from sally rods twisted in and out through each other. Rushes were peeled and dipped in grease and let them dry and they were used as candles. In olden times the farmer made his own spades and wooden ploughs and he put iron socks on them. He made wooden gates. In every house in olden times there was a spinning wheel. People did their own thatching in olden times. They made their own carts and built wheels for them. The farmer shod his own horses and asses in olden times. There are two men who do the tatching in the district. Their names are Billy Woods and Alfred Blair. Pike fishing and perch fishing is carried on in the district. Pots and pans are not made in the district.
