  2. Daniel O'Connell being a lawyer was going to Court one morning. There was a man walking on the road and he said "what o'clock is it Councillor O'Connell? He said it was eleven o'clock. "I will be late for the court. I will be hanged. "O'Connell had a car and asked him to sit up beside him. "What have you done? "I have stolen a cow" said the man. "Buy a loaf a bread before you go up" said O'Connell. "When you are asked a question put a bit of bread in your mouth and let a whistle and say "leave it so" O'Connell stood up and said no man would find him guilty. So he was dismissed. When the court was over O'Connell followed him out. "Did'nt I bring you out of it well pay me now. "The man let another whistle and said "leave it so." The prisoner when bidding farewell to O'Connell gave him an advice saying "when going stealing a cow never take the cow lying by the wall. Take the one that is lying on the hill. She is sure to be the best because the delicate one lies near the wall and the fat one lies out in the hill.
