    The lands of Nenagh before the English invasion, belonged to the O'Kennedys. At the invasion they were presented to the Duke of Ormond whose name was Fitzwalter but he adopted the family name of Butler. The Duke of Ormond sold his rights to Baron Donnellan in 1703, and O'Donnellan's son, Jeremiah sold and conveyed the lands and right of property to Robert Holmes by a lease for life in 1721.
    The Holmes family still hold these rights and have the ground rents of all the property in Nenagh and all the tolls for fairs and markets held within the township of Nenagh. There were also a
