  1. Before, the people used to wear boots at eighteen years of age, some people used wear neither boots or shoes. Years ago the children used go barefoot all the year around.
    The water used for washing the feet is always thrown out immediately or else it is believed the fairies will throw it out. There are twelve shoemakers in the town at present but about eighty years ago there were up to ninety shoemakers in it.
    Mr. Barron's (he is not a shoemaker himself) family were shoemaker's up to one hundred and fifty years ago. Clogs were commonly worn by the people before, and they were made locally.
