Sixty years ago they used to get married in the houses. The priest would come in the morning and marry them. He would stay and eat his breakfast and dinner with them. An old costum they used to practice was to meet the bride and groom and throw rice and old shoes at them.
The bride was supposed to wear, something old and something new, something borrows and something blue, A wedding feast was always held in the brides house, they used to enjoy themselves immensely dancing and singing. They used to go round the house several times with a gallon of porter treating
Some of the marriags used to take place in the Chapel, they would have a race home, and who ever was home first was presented with a bottle of whiskey, because that was the horse was chosen for the bride. Straw boys always visited the house. They come in, some of them danced and they rest played voilins. If they receive money they go away peacefully, but if they don't they are very trouble some, they are always dressed in straw. The bride and groom used to sit on the one horse going home They are presented with money.
