- Cure of the Hic-cough
The hic-cough is an ailment which is very common. Certain cures such as eating a grain of salt are used, but these only cure it for a short time. The best cure is to make some whey and after lighting a blest candle drop three drops of the candle into the whey and drink it. This has been found to be an excellent cure for this ailment, and most people in the locality use it.
Cure of the Mumps.
People believe in putting winkers on a person who has the mumps, and after being led round the pig-sty three times they are cured of the mumps.
Cure of Kidney Trouble.
Water-cress is used in kidney trouble. It is boiled and eaten, and found to be an excellent cure. Dandelion is another for kidney trouble.
Cure for Heart-Disease.
Many people use Lily of the Valley Root as a cure for heart disease, and it is found to cure it.
