  1. I live in the district of Kilmacaran near the little town of Shercock in the County of Cavan. There are about twenty families in the townland and about one hundred people. There is no old person in Kilmacaran is in the Knappagh division in the barony of Clankee. Mr Patrick Mc Dermott is the oldest man in the townland. The most of the houses are built with stones and have thatched roofs on them.
    There is a beautiful lake called Lough Sillan which touches four townlands. There is an old ruin not far from my house. It was a school once upon a time, called Kilmacaran school. Not many people went to other countries.
