  1. The local fairts are held in Bailieboro, Kingscourt, Cootehill, Carrick-macross and Castleblayney. The fair is usually held on a place called "the fair green", sometimes it is a field, and sometimes a piece of waste ground. Cattle are often on their way to the fair, when dealers go out the roads and buy them. There is always a luck penny given back when the money is paid. The halter is never given to the dealer, he puts them in a yard. They are marked with a kell or by cutting a piece of hair of their backs. There is a fair held in Muff every years.
